Puppy Potty Training Tips
π 1. Stick to a Schedule
Take your puppy out first thing in the morning, after meals, after naps, and before bed.
Every 1β2 hours is a good rule for young puppies.
π 2. Use the Same Spot
Always go to the same potty spot outside.
The scent will help your puppy remember what to do.
π 3. Praise & Reward
Immediately after they go potty in the right spot, give lots of praise and a treat.
Timing is everything!
π« 4. Donβt Punish Accidents
Never scold or punish your puppy for accidents β it creates fear.
Clean with an enzyme cleaner to remove odors and prevent repeat spots.
β° 5. Watch for Signs
Sniffing, circling, whining, or heading to the door = time to go!
Intervene early to avoid accidents.
πͺ© 6. Confine When Unsupervised
Use a crate, playpen, or gated area to prevent wandering and accidents.
Dogs naturally avoid going potty in their sleeping space.Β
π 7. Be Consistent & Patient
Puppies take time to learn β accidents are part of the process.
Stay calm, consistent, and celebrate small wins.
